What could cause the eyelid to need surgery?

 

The eyelid ages with time. Different problems with the eyelid turning in, out or getting droopy are associated with age. Cancers can develop on the eyelid after exposure to sunlight or chemicals.

Tear duct surgery takes rougly 45  minutes to an hour to perform. It is an outpatient procedure and patients go home that day. 

 

Do I need someone to be with me for my Eyelid Surgery?

 

In short, yes. Eyelid surgery is performed under IV anesthesia. As a result, you will need someone to bring you and take you home. 

 

What are the risks of  Eyelid Surgery?

 

The biggest risk of eyelid surgery is that the surgery does not work and the patient will need further surgery.  Other risks of eyelid surgery include risks of any surgery around the eyelid which include bleeding,scarring, infection, need for more surgery, vision loss and double vision. When can I resume normal activities after Eyelid Surgery?

 

Most patients can resume normal activities roughly 2 weeks after eyelid surgery. 

 

When do the stitches come out after Eyelid Surgery?

 

Stitches after Eyelid Surgery are removed after 1 week. Sometimes stitches are dissolvable and do not have to be removed at all.
